Marrying Mr. Darcy - Calling all Jane Austin Fans

Calling all Jane Austen fans!!

There's a new game on Kickstarter that ends in 8 days called Marrying Mr. Darcy.  Remember Pride and Prejudice?  Did you like the book?  Have you ever wanted to play a card game based on the book??  Now you can!  Currently it has almost 750 backers, and there's still time left.

Marrying Mr. Darcy includes: 1 Custom box, 1 six-sided dice, 1 rule sheet, 181 Cards (60 Events, 100 Character, 8 Heroines, 6 Suitors, 1 Old Maid, and 6 Player Guides)

If you'd like to support them, the game pledge is $30, but you can certainly pledge less to get some amazing artwork that's on the cards.

There are some YouTube videos with a how to play and an overview of the rules.  Just click that link.

What could be better than a card game inspired by a classic book?

Oh yea, that's right.. the UNDEAD version too. :)  All backers can receive a Print and Play version or for a nominal charge add the Undead Expansion Pack to their pledge.  This version doesn't change gameplay at all, so why not go for it?!

Besides, a book was already written, Pride, Prejudice and Zombies.. now we have a game version.

Go.. go now.. there are only 8 days left to back Marrying Mr. Darcy - backing ends on October 17.

Today's Indie Spotlight - Easy Edit for Kindle

For all you writers out there!!  Want to publish your book on Amazon's Kindle?  Want to make it super easy to publish?

This is a new Kickstarter project that I think can really go the distance.  It's called Easy Edit for Kindle by Kelly Carter and Howard Kimball.  It allows you to type in your book and it formats your work so you can hit publish and have your book ready for Kindle.  No more fooling around trying to get the formats right. How neat is that??

To get your very own Easy Edit for Kindle is $25 on a USB stick, but if you want a branded one, it's $30.

Currently the Easy Edit is only available for Windows systems, but the developers are working hard to get it ready for Mac users.

They have a website - http://easyeditforkindle.com/   Currently it's in progress, and another perk of being a Kickstarter backer is that the creators are planning on letting backers have promotional hyperlinks on their website free of charge.

So as an author you're saving a ton of time with formatting and getting another outlet for free publicity for your books. :)

The Kickstarter campaign for Easy Edit ends on November 4, 2013 - so don't delay!
All the best!

So I support the small and little known designers

For anyone who knows me, they know that I love to support small businesses.  It's a rare day when I go into a "big box" store and spend tons of money.

Maybe it comes from my grandparents owning their own business, and my father owning his own fishing boat and making a living (albeit extremely difficult one) as a commercial lobster fisherman.

Maybe a part of it stems from my inherent love of all things handmade, and my own personal experiences with selling handmade crafts.  More often than not when I sell something handmade I lose money because of the time it takes me to make something.  And most (non-crafty) people don't know what goes into handmade things.

So my goal for this blog is to feature some small business owners, indie designers, small games developers and anyone else I think could use a small "plug" to get their product out there. :)

Here we go!
